It has been way too long since Guigui Prod unveiled a new freestyle machine. We are beyond stoked to be able to say the wait is finally over, and believe us, it has been worth it. The Helectron was designed to keep the features of the Helixir we all know and love and improve on those that still had potential to be improved - a difficult undertaking thus why it took some time!

Finally, after 5 prototypes, almost a year and a half in development stage and having been tasted in waves and holes accorss Europe by the Guigui team paddlers, the Helectron is here to put a fresh energy spark in your freestyle game.

So what’s new? Let’s give you a quick walkthrough:

1.The first thing you will notice about the Helectron is that the shape of the bow has been changed from round to a more squared design. The reason behind this change is that we wanted to make it easier for you to keep in control when plugging in powerful holes like Plattling. The squared bow also helps the boat pop out of the rotation of mcnasties and phoenixes straighter helping you to land these tricks within scoring angles. The new distribution of the volume on the bow combined with this squared design means you won’t need to be David McClure to be able to go both clean and huge on your loop tricks.

2. The second thing that stands out from the Helectron is the new sexy stern. A lot of volume has been added to the tip of the back end making the boat a lot more reactive on tricks like the Lunar Orbit and the Tricky Woo - expect judges to start having to give a lot more air bonuses on these! The idea for giving extra pop to lunars and trickies is to allow you to drive the bow deep and turn these tricks into big aerial trophy moves by jumping out of them with big loops. Even though the Helectron appears to be less slicey than the Helixir you’ll be surprised to see how easy it is to go clean on your warm up flat water cartwheels. It slices through water as a knife slices through butter!

3. When you look at the hull, 2 elements will stand out when compared to the Helixir series. On the first place, the Helectron has a sick hull with a primary edge inspired on the epic, high-performance wave design offered by the Helixir 2013 and a secondary edge that will only come into play when leaning hard over your edges looking for big, inverted wave moves, surfing steep green waves and slaying wave combos.
The simplicity and minimalism of the hull design means the boat is looser than ever and can grind even the smaller green waves.

4. Stern Boosters - this is how we’ve called the new features you can observe under the stern of the boat. The idea behind these boosters is to keep the bow of the boat down when surfing forward whilst keeping the speed and making big bounces and ollies easy. It also helps the rails keep the boat on its trajectory when tracing a diagonal from the foam pile to the shoulder of the wave ensuring maximum speed and control at the moment of take off.

5. A fully updated cockpit to keep you drier than ever in your Guigui has been design in house as well as a completely new backrest system. You’ll never find yourself sitting on your backrest ever again after landing a big loop!

Carbon Footrest

The Kevlar/Carbon Footrest was developed on the Shinobi in 2017, then optimized in 2023 following crash tests carried out in the workshop, in order to study the distribution of forces on the structure.

This part is now molded in one piece, in Epoxy, under vacuum.
The very rigid top is made of a 6cm thick foam core.

The adjustment bars are made of Kevlar/Carbon to absorb shock. The holes in the bars are molded during manufacturing, this ensures that the fibers are not broken when drilling the holes, and therefore significantly increases the strength of the bars.

Finally, a 2cm foam is present on the board to protect your ankles, without losing transmission.

This footrest can be fitted in most boats: Waka, Spade, Pyranha, Exo, Zet...
You will save on average 1kg of weight on your kayak by purchasing this toe clip.
In addition, any weight saved being located far from the body has a very positive influence on navigation.
Imagine the difference between lifting a 1kg weight close to your body, at arm's length, or at your feet!

Carbon Kit pre-cut

The Carbon Kit was designed as an extra-light, high performance outfit for your your kayaks, saving up to 1,5kg in your freestyle boat and up to 2kg in your creek boat.

All the elements composing the Carbon Kit, including the carbon rail, the pressurised foam seat and the outfit-to-hull attach system has been developed and manually manufactured in our workshop to offer you enhanced comfort, stiffness and performance.

The Carbon Kit includes:

1.The carbon rail. Designed to give extra stiffness to the hull of your boat, enhancing hull-reactivity when boofing big drops, surfing and bouncing on big waves and giving extra precision and speed to your hole moves. Furthermore, the carbon platform allows the attachment the pressurized foam seat to the hull of the boat. Available in two version: Lightweight version for class IV, and Reinforced version for class V.

2.The pressurized foam seat. The foam seat, made of reused pieces of foam and compacted by a handmade high temperature press is attached to the carbon platform via Velcro patches. The system makes adjusting your seat easier than it had ever been before, taking no more than 5 seconds.

3.All the extra foam blocks that fit your model to assemble the kit.

4.High quality sprayable contact glue required to assemble the kit.

Select your rail version, and your boat model:

For the other boats you can use the Universal carbon kit.
You just need to cut the foam pillars using the foam block supplied in the kit.

The Helixir 2018 Small

The Helixir 2018 Small is a joyful and performing boat to paddle in all kinds of conditions. It’s the logical evolution of the 2015 version, we have identified every single one of the small glitches of the 2015 shape and over a period of one year we have worked to make those glitches, the strengths of the new shape.

In terms of the performance in the hole, we have made the stern longer in order to enhance the stability of the rotations like the cartwheels, trickys and lunars, the back end volume distribution is now more progressive to allow for smoother back end tricks and huge backloops.

We have maintained the slicyness of the ends so initiations and getting the right verticality on your tricks remains easy and have only increased the volume in the central third of the boat as we want you to fly higher than ever.

We have also added more rocker to the hull in comparison to the old shape, this makes blasting for your lunars and mcnasties way easier so you can comfortably start these moves from any position.

The extra rocker also enhances the rotation of the loop-based tricks, it allows for amplitude and shots the boat forward helping to stick tricks in flushy features and cleaning your loops.

The extra rocker and the new edges make for exceptional take offs and the rounded-hull is thought to make transitions between moves easier so you can finally stomp those airscrews to airscrews!

One of the most exciting things of this boat is how fun it makes front surfing and setting up for a trick, you will be able to surf further in the shoulder of the wave, throw tricks where nobody else can do and find potential by innovating and exploring the new possibilities unlocked by this boat.

In the wave, the extra length in the back end means the boat is faster, we have developed a new hull that is slightly curved, no straight lines make for an extremely loose boat, that will easily spin, grind and transfer the edge, you will be blunting the smallest waves with no effort.

In terms of construction the Small version get the same inovations from the Médium:

3D rim, you will no longer struggle having to find a deck that fits, the new rim is 100% dry and way less damaging for your sprayskirts.

Foam seat, 100% made of compacted foam, it’s just as comfortable as the old one, it is way lighter and will not break no matter how big you go and how bouncy the wave is. The old carbon seat really stressed the hull of the boat, eventually cracking the sides of the boat, specially when surfing big waves, with the new seat we have solved that problem and will be taking extra care of your back by reducing the impacts absorbed by your lower spine, we want you to shred and stay healthy for years to come!

- New 2018 Strong construction makes the whole boat way more stiff, so central foam blocks are not required, more space for your legs and enhanced durability is a win-win to our minds!

Helixir 2018 SMALL Plastic, standard version

The Helixir 2018 S is now available in plastic, after two years waiting.

It’s the same shape as the Medium but simply smaller! The shell is always product in Italia by EXO.

The outfitting spects are the following:

• Simple, performing & intuitive outfitting system, thought to be extra-light and durable.
• Adjustable rope-system backrest.
• Foot-rest foam set, already shaped to fit your boat.
• Over-thruster included.

Quim Fontane Maso get the first boat on the water last weekend at Augsburg in Germany, here his reaction:

All the doubts about the performance of this boat were gone as soon as I got in the water and did a flatwater cartwheel. The feeling of ease and balance was totally reminiscent of my carbon boat.

Hitting the hole confirmed what I was already suspecting: this is the best plastic freestyle boat I have ever tried!
It feels like I am paddling my guigui!!!
I was still a bit cautious as I could only try the boat in a hole, but yesterday I went to Kuchl and the boat was shredding the s*** out of a number of different waves with different shapes: fast and reactive.

I am aware that this is what everyone writes when a new boat is out, but honestly, I think the best you can do is to try it for yourselves!

These are the ideas that the Helixir 2018 is built on; a joyful and performing boat to paddle in all kinds of conditions. The Helixir 2018 is the logical evolution of the 2015 version, we have identified every single one of the small glitches of the 2015 shape and over a period of one year we have worked to make those glitches, the strengths of the new shape.

In terms of the performance in the hole, we have made the stern longer in order to enhance the stability of the rotations like the cartwheels, trickys and lunars, the back end volume distribution is now more progressive to allow for smoother back end tricks and huge backloops.

We have maintained the slicyness of the ends so initiations and getting the right verticality on your tricks remains easy and have only increased the volume in the central third of the boat as we want you to fly higher than ever.

We have also added more rocker to the hull in comparison to the old shape, this makes blasting for your lunars and mcnasties way easier so you can comfortably start these moves from any position.

The extra rocker also enhances the rotation of the loop-based tricks, it allows for amplitude and shots the boat forward helping to stick tricks in flushy features and cleaning your loops.

The extra rocker and the new edges make for exceptional take offs and the rounded-hull is thought to make transitions between moves easier so you can finally stomp those airscrews to airscrews!

The Shinobi

It was by the tireless initiative of the Easy Kayak team that the Shinobi project was born, becoming the first composit creek boat built in Guigui Prod workshop.
With his drive and the conviction that designing a unique and exceptional creekboat shape that could perform among the best boats in the game, Regis Casteran, an emblematic personality of the French whitewater community, managed to convince me to participate in this outrageous adventure.

At first, our intention was to create a boat that combined the lightweight of kevlar with increased stability, maneuverability and reliability for those big guys who had had enough bullshit getting their legs, backs and arms destroyed on huge and underperforming plastic bathtubs.

After hours in the workshop and many prototypes the results are finally here: on the water the paddler directs and moves the boat effortlessly, catching the eddies and attaining back the current becomes surprisingly smooth.
The impression of sitting on a slalom boat will draw a smile of joy on your face. It’s prominent rocker and high-volume profile will allow you to boof or punch through the scariest holes or crashing waves without problems. This boat will make you enjoy every second on the water, no matter the difficulty of the section.

The new Helixir 2015 is in the top end of the freestyle in terms of shaping, construction, and sensations when paddling it.
Designed and tested by some of the best freestylers in Europe, it took over 5 months and 17 prototypes to get every detail in place !
Guigui Prod was looking for an improved version of the first Helixir; a boat that showed amazing performances in waves and holes.

The new Helixir 2015 is shorter, aiming for faster rotations and cleaning the moves, it maintains a progressive distribution of the volume, which has been increased compared to the old Helixir.
With sharp ends that make links ridiculously easy, more volume on the transition with the cockpit to drop bigger tricks and an improved stern shape to ease and throw around the boat on the hardest backwards rotations like Lunars and Trickys, this boat has the faculty to change your style and put you one step on top of any other paddler in the eddy.

Regarding to the 2015 Garburator Worlds, we have focused on improving the performance of our shape on the wave; we have added rails on the bottom of the boat, making it faster and waaaay looser; you will now be able to grind even the smallest wave and effortless superclean your spins!
On the other hand, the bottom of the boat is flatter, with less rocker that would stop the boat from flying on smaller waves and which gives the boat some extra speed to go higher on the big wave.
From the feedback of our pro-testers, the new Helixir 2015 works way better than the old version on backward tricks and specially on helixes and it's more friendly when landing the moves and when looking for the carve to link wave moves: bread 'n butter, flashbacks and other.

We're honestly and humbly, very proud of our last shape, lots of paddlers have already tested the Helixir 2015 and their reaction is always the same: "Are you kidding? This is the best thing I have ever paddled!"

The principal cause of carbon boats getting old and breaking is certainly due to how they’re used on the water. However, transporting them can also result in a great deal of wear and tear, particularly to the gel coat.

For example, if boats are not strapped down properly they will get damaged by vibrations on the roof rack or possibly another kayak. Also, think of how many boats have broken as a result of flying with them!!

Nile with Quim Fontané Maso

I recived my brand new Helixir M+ with the custom made design by Katyla Kulkova just a few days before the competition season in Europe started.

I already had the chance to try the last Guigui Prod weapon on several spots and even competitions in both France and Spain with awesome results anb even better feelings about this boat; going way more aerial than in my old Easymix 2008 L, ease on combinin moves in the hole and making rotations look effordless and with super Sharp precision and control over the verticallity of the ends.

Anyway I still had to try it and see how that Machine performed on waves, specially regarding to the next World Championships that will take place in the famous Garburator wave in the Ottawa River.

To test the shape and the new construction, with only 7,2kg it’s by far, the lightest in the freestyle kayaking market and moret han 1 kg lighter than the last construction, I went to Uganda, the winter paradise for freestyle paddlers as part of the team that run the “World of the Champions – ADP Programme” organized by Jacko Jackson and Dennis Newton, 2 of the most talented coaches out there.

The water levels during the 10 days that we spent on the wàters of the Nile River were relatively low, so the flows were perfect during the morning for the Club Wave but a bit low for the Nile SPecial, that had a tinny foam pile and which was always tow-in. So we had quite a sticky, fomay wave and a flushy fast and green wave to do the test.

The first of the waves I had the chance to surf was the Club Wave, I first centered on throwing all the wave moves one by one, the first impression was great, the boat is super-lose and fast that makes it a bit hard to control at times but that als ogives you the chance to go airborn!

The edge transfers make all the difference compared with any other boat out therem the release is smooth and it’s very easy to go vertical in the blunts and backblunts and gives you the oppotunity to invert even with little air in your trick.

Everyone thinks about the Nile Special when going to the Nile, but this wave is just awesome too, specially when water rises and Nile Special is paddeblish, it forms a huge wave that was my absolute favourite: it’s supposed to be called Club’s funnel.

It’s quite a hard wave to catch as it forms right in the middle of the ràpid and you need to start the ferry high in the eddy, surf the big hole just behind the Nile and ferry to the wave from there, rides there were just bad-ass and I threw the cleans of my life.

In the afternoons we had some scenic sunset sessions on this the famous fast and spicy Nile Special, the carbon feels super fast here and landings were loud as the hull is super stiff, it was specially good for spinning combos and massive air, but rides were generally short.
Rush Sturges who was totally crushing it out there also wanted to try in several occasions the new Guigui toy, and was not disappointed, he wanted to order one straight away!

I can’t wait to get back to the Nile, it’s been a huge personal and paddling experience, improving a lot on my paddling skills but also learning a lot from my coaches and over life in general.
